Volunteers Clean-up New Bethlehem & Redbank Valley

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (RVO) by Sandy Mateer – Thanks to the 50+ volunteers who came out to help with the Annual Community Cleanup sponsored by Redbank Renaissance and the Redbank Valley Trails Association.

Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 403 and their leaders participate in Community Clean-up

This is the 14th year Sandy Mateer and Redbank Renaissance have organized and sponsored the Clean-Up, which is now part of the Great American Clean-Up of PA. Penn Dot provided gloves, vests and bags. This year saw one of our highest number of helpers!

32 bags of trash were collected from out on 66, and another 16 along the trail, at the library and throughout New Bethlehem.

Gardens at the parklet, Bear Patch, Welcome Sign and Library were weeded, edged and made ready for planting. Tables at Gumtown Park were made ready for the Farmers Market which hopes to start on May 15th, and thanks to Boy Scout Troop 403, ditches were cleaned out along the trail.

Thank you all! And thanks to everyone who picks up trash when they see it, who keep sidewalks swept and windows clean. It all makes New Bethlehem and the Redbank Valley an even better place to live, play and work.
