Summer vacation from school has come to the Redbank Valley, even if Mother Nature seems to have forgotten that warm, sunny days are supposed to part of summer! As excited as the kids all are about being “out for the summer”, it won’t be long before every responsible adult is going to hear the inevitable whine, “I’m bored! There’s nothing to do!” While we can’t offer full-time relief from the “summer bored blues”, there are a lot of activities planned at the Redbank Valley Community Center and around town. Here are some suggestions of activities that are family friendly and can help fill some of that summer stretching out ahead of us.

Redbank Valley Community Center
             Broad Street, New Bethlhem, PA

On June 7, July 5, and August 2 the Community Center will hold it’s “First Friday Night” live music event at the Center on Broad Street. “Stamping with Dee” is another event that is scheduled each month of the summer. “Stamping with Dee” will be held June 11, July 9, and August 13 at 6:30 PM for all sessions. The RedbankValley Community Center meetings will be at 7PM on June 25 and August 27.

The Community Center has several other things planned for June. Personal finance classes will be on June 6, June13, and June 27 at 7PM. On June 7, before the “First Friday Music”, there will be a “Tuff’s Smokin’ Grill Dinner” from 3 – 6PM. A “Summer Youth Corps” program will be held on June 26 from 11AM – 3PM.

Events at the Center continue in July with a “Summer Shorts Book Discussion” at noon on July 3 and July 31. There will be 3 Health and Fitness Classes in July, scheduled for July 11, 18, and 25 at 7PM. The Center on Broad Street will be closed July 21 – 27, but the Center’s Director, Jennifer Gold will be at the Clarion County Fair representing the Center.

A “Health and Fitness Class” opens August at the Community Center on August 1 at 7PM. On August 3rd there will be a “Trunk Sale” from 8AM – 1:30PM. The “Summer Shorts Book Discussion” will be at noon on August 14. “Drive-In Movie” on August 24 winds up the summer activities at the Community Center.

There are Martial Arts classes on Monday and Thursday evening at the First Baptist Church in Distant. For more information see www.winterhawk.info or call (724) 868 – 2771.
