Local men get heads shaved for fundraiser

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (RVO) – A local group of men are being auctioned off for a ‘head shaving’ in the ‘Cuts For The Cure’ fundraiser sponsored by S&T Bank’s Relay For Life Team held this Sunday, May 20th 2018 at the Oakland Church of God in Distant PA at 1pm.

With the theme of ‘Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow’, event coordinators Tuffy Smith and Mary Benton, along with grandson Hayden Smith, felt inspired to organize this fundraiser with the hopes of raising awareness for local residents battling cancer as well as to help defray the cost of treatment.

Half of the proceeds will benefit local cancer patient Jan McGarrity while the remaining half will support New Bethlehem S&T Bank’s Relay for Life Team.

Judges for the event will include local cancer survivors. Folks are encouraged to bring cash or check to bid on their favorite participant! Bidding will start at $10 per participant. The highest bidder for each participant will win the opportunity to cut that person’s hair any way they wish!
