NB Mayor promotes Clarion County CodeRED Emergency System
NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (RVO) – Mayor of New Bethlehem, the Rev. Dr. Gordon Barrows, applauds the impending launch of Clarion County’s latest advancement in emergency preparedness – the CodeRED notification system, set to go live on May 1, 2024.
The CodeRED system represents a significant milestone in bolstering public safety across the county. Developed to swiftly disseminate crucial information during emergencies, CodeRED ensures that residents and businesses stay informed through a variety of communication channels, including text messages, phone calls, and emails.
Mayor Barrows emphasized the system’s capacity to reach hundreds of thousands of individuals within minutes, enabling the rapid distribution of vital alerts such as evacuation notices, inclement weather advisories, boil water notices, gas leaks, police activity updates, fire emergencies, missing persons reports, and more.
“CodeRED serves as a lifeline during times of crisis, empowering our community to make informed decisions and take necessary precautions to safeguard lives and property,” stated Mayor Barrows. “This state-of-the-art emergency notification system underscores our unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents and businesses in Clarion County.”
One of the system’s key features highlighted by Mayor Barrows is its flexibility in targeting specific groups or geographic areas, allowing for tailored alerts tailored to the nature and scope of the emergency.
“Whether it’s a county-wide advisory or a localized incident, CodeRED equips the county with the tools to deliver timely and relevant information precisely where it’s needed most,” Mayor Barrows remarked.
The Mayor encourages all residents and businesses in Clarion County to sign up for CodeRED to receive critical notifications promptly. Registration is simple and can be done via text, online, or by leaving a message with designated county officials.
In closing, Mayor Barrows expressed gratitude to Brett Whitling, Homeland Security Planner, and Denny Logue, Deputy Director, from the Department of Public Safety for the collaborative efforts that have culminated in the launch of the CodeRED system, recognizing the dedication of county officials and partners in enhancing emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
